.firework.

Baru aje beli speaker yay! There is only one room where the teachers could use ICT stuff in teaching the students (albeit an inadequate one - you have to use your own laptop and mine could not get in sync with the projector T_T) and it's almost impossible to book the room due to high demand, especially from the form six teachers.

Therefore, terpakselah menggunakan resource sendiri ape ade kalo nak buat lesson best sket untuk bebudak. In my case, I'm going to use my own laptop and the speaker that I just bought.

Tomorrow I am planning to teach the kids through the song Firework by Katy Perry. It will test their listening skill (they would have to complete the lyric given to them) and after that, I will give them a set of antonyms of several words taken from the lyric so that they would understand the difficult words in the lyric (I know there would be some - for an example, the word 'ignite' in this song).

Why did I plan to apply this method as early as the first week?

It's because I could sense that they are very tense. These students (the top class among the form two) need to have a time out and I hope that this lesson would enable them to enjoy English lessons better. I have a feeling that they fear the very thought of having to learn English with me because I have been speaking totally in English to them. I know that some of them are having difficulties in understanding me but they need to challenge themselves as they have the potential.

Let's see if this would work :-)

The reason for choosing this song is because the lyric is very meaningful. It's about not being afraid to express who you really are on the inside and not letting your flaws stop you from having a great life. It's about how each individual is special in their very own way. A very relevant song for the teenagers as this is the time where you feel like the world is against you. I still remember that feeling :-D

we could all be beautiful and awesome if we let ourselves be :-)

Do you ever feel like a plastic bag
Drifting through the wind, wanting to start again?
Do you ever feel, feel so paper thin
Like a house of cards, one blow from caving in?

Do you ever feel already buried deep?
Six feet under screams but no one seems to hear a thing
Do you know that there's still a chance for you
'Cause there's a spark in you?

You just gotta ignite the light and let it shine
Just own the night like the 4th of July

'Cause baby, you're a firework
Come on, show 'em what you're worth
Make 'em go, oh
As you shoot across the sky

Baby, you're a firework
Come on, let your colors burst
Make 'em go, oh
You're gonna leave 'em falling down

You don't have to feel like a waste of space
You're original, cannot be replaced
If you only knew what the future holds
After a hurricane comes a rainbow

Maybe you're reason why all the doors are closed
So you could open one that leads you to the perfect road
Like a lightning bolt, your heart will blow
And when it's time, you'll know

You just gotta ignite the light and let it shine
Just own the night like the 4th of July

'Cause baby you're a firework
Come on, show 'em what you're worth
Make 'em go, oh
As you shoot across the sky

Baby, you're a firework
Come on, let your colors burst
Make 'em go, oh
You're gonna leave 'em falling down

Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
It's always been inside of you, you, you
And now it's time to let it through

'Cause baby you're a firework
Come on, show 'em what you're worth
Make 'em go, oh
As you shoot across the sky

Baby, you're a firework
Come on, let your colors burst
Make 'em go, oh
You're gonna leave 'em falling down

Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon
Boom, boom, boom
Even brighter than the moon, moon, moon

(I would have to edit the lyric for them a bit so that it would be in proper English)

Here's hoping that the lesson would go well as planned and I would walked out the classroom feeling good, knowing that I have taught them something useful and motivational :-)
