steak sodap, murah @ Me'nate KL.

A good place that serves succulent steak at an affordable price is really hard to find. So when my husband's colleague recommended this place, we decided to try it out just for the sake of finding out whether it is really as good as it is said to be.

This restaurant is located in Ampang, about 7kms away from Ampang Puteri Hospital. If the Petronas nearby Ampang Puteri is on your right, the restaurant would be about 5-7kms away, on your left, located right smack in the midst of rumah kedai and medan selera opposite it.

Nothing fancy with the ambiance but don't let it fool you.



The waiter was really helpful and this would come in handy for steak noobs (like us). He gave us an ample time to decide, elaborated on wagyu beef (which is THE beef to pick if you want to have steak) and didn't mind catering to us who were dazed and confused (eating out iz a seriouz biznessz).




We finally settled on the wagyu beef and voila, the beef was on promotional price so yeah we saved some moolah there :-)

They took a reasonable time to prepare the dishes. A medium rare steak for me and a sandwich for mr husband. We shared our meals so that we would be able to have a good taste of both.

The wagyu beef steak was really mind blowing. It is succulent, tender and even the fat tasted good, not to mention edible too. It is actually stated in the menu that the fat in wagyu beef actually does you good so there's another reason for you to indulge in the steak until the plate is clean :-p








The beverage is free flow so you could drink to your heart's content!

The bill came up to RM 60++. So cheap, it's rare for a steak and a plate of sandwich.

Hai Peng Kopitiam, Kemaman

Yay, makan lagi!

Siapalah manusia tanpa pemakanan yang memuaskan hati. Oleh sebab itu, kami pun pergi ke Hai Peng Kopitiam. Hari pertama kat Kemaman, lepas google, kami asek asek nampak blog yang sebut Tong Juan dan Hai Peng Kopitiam. Tak buleh jadik, biadap sungguh rasenye kalau kami tak pergi ke kedua dua tempat tersebut sedangkan kami dah kat Kemaman.

So we decided to have our breakfast at Hai Peng Kopitiam. We spent our night a day before, salivating over the drinks and food that we would have on the next morning.

Hai Peng Kopitiam nih terletak kat Jalan Sulaimani. Kalo Tong Juan restoran tuh dekat hujung jalan nih, Hai Peng pulak kat permulaan Jalan Sulaimani, sebelah kiri. There's an ample parking space at a carpark opposite this cafe.

But...we got our seats alright without having to wait. Yeah, sukses!

The drinks, they have modern up-to-date fancy shmancy blended drinks as well as the old school kopi O :-)

This bun got me hooked! We initially ordered a set (two buns) and ordered another set because we can't have enough of em good stuff!

Makanan dia okey, tapi paling ooomph adelah roti bakar dia. Yang macam bun tuh. Dia wat sendiri kot roti tuh, sedaaaap sangat dan mengenyangkan. Kami order another set tu sebab nafsu, bukan sebab lapar :-p

Stuffed Crab at Tong Juan, Kemaman.

We googled "good place to eat in Kemaman" upon reaching Terengganu and the search returned with a number of blogs suggesting to eat at Tong Juan which serves stuffed crab. I have honestly never heard of a stuffed crab before while my husband heard about it from a colleague who recalled his father always bringing back home stuffed crab when he was in Kemaman.

We decided to give it a go.

It is located right smack in the middle of the town, at Jalan Sulaimani. We googled the destination after failing to search for it using the GPS navigator and it is not hard to locate, really. I reckon you could go there just by using the most ancient method ever that is; stop and ask for direction. Just ask how to get to Jalan Sulaimani and the restaurant is at the end of the road, opposite the big river.

We were so hungry, we ended up looking like this!

And we got our meals about 20 mins later. Seafood fried rice, chicken fried rice, stuffed crab (of course!) and asparagus fried in oyster sauce.

Our bill was RM 40. The stuffed crab is RM 8 each. We ordered chilled chinese tea to go with the food and that helped us to save a little. Quite expensive for a lunch for two but the experience was well worth it. Now we can proudly say that "HEY I'VE TASTED STUFFED CRAB!"

The fried rice was tasty and we were bloated upon walking out from there. If you are not too hungry, a plate of fried rice would do for two people.

The fiance told me that Murni had been relocated to somewhere near Dataran Prima. Murni is one of my favourite-est est estt (nih suka tahap gaban la nih) place to eat. I particularly love their claypot lo shu fun. Cheap and tasty. Beat that.

So we went to the new place on Sunday.

But it was closed! Due to renovation. Out of all days, why must it be done on that day?! I HATE RENOVATION WITH A PASSION.

So we went to William's who is the brother to the owner of Murni (so said the fiance).

Naturally, I asked for lo shu fun. But it was not claypot lo shu fun. It tasted blah too. Luckily the chocolate avocado drink is good. Really good. It's almost like drinking a very thick milkshake! But I still miss Murni's goodies :-(

As a food lover that we always are, we went to Murni's new place (again!) on Wednesday night. Fingers and toes crossed that it will be opened and there is a seat for us (Murni can get pretty full at times. Well, all the time to be precised). And we were lucky!

We arrived around 9. Not good for my losing-the-weight mission but I'll make it up by working out really really hard in the gym, after the holiday ends. In like, 1 week ++. Hmpph.

Murni's new place is decent. There are plenty of tables to accommodate the customers. There is also a menu too! The old place has no menu and what I ended up doing was always to glance at what others are eating and ordered the same as theirs. Or I would just go with Claypot Lo Shu Fun :-D

The mocktails are nice too. I always ask for I Love You (sambil buat muka menggoda kepada waiter - tapi tak pernah dpt air free. hmmph. fail lah).

Oh BTW, upon asking the cashier, we were corrected. This is the second branch for Murni. The old one is still in business too!

Due to the vow that both of us had made earlier this weekend, there shall not be makan besar anymore for the two of us. Kami akan...makan kecil? We want to get back in shape and keep our health in a tip top condition. My hunky hunk (who is hunkier than Jacob Black btw) has to constantly watch his sugar intake at all times due to his health condition but let's not go into that too much this time because I could get emotional talking about that. We had been pretty reckless lately about what we ate and it's time to put a halt to it. Sebab saya sayang dia, saya pun akan makan dengan ala kadar saje supaya die tak rasa tergoda dgn makanan saya.

Kami tak dapat makan banyak lagik (terutamanya makanan yang tidak sihat) tapi tulis pasal makan banyak takpe, kan?

These are all available at Murni, Jalan SS2, Petaling Jaya. I must say, it is one of my favourite place to go for food hunting because of the varieties of food. From western to local, even the beverages are nice to look at as well as to gulp down. They come at affordable prices too. It'd be crazy for me not to love this place :-p Though they don't come with menu for you to look at, you won't be left clueless as to what to eat. Just take a look around you and point at what others are eating (that intrigues you) and they'll get it. The waiters would only take a mental note of what you ordered so if you're starving it might not be a good idea to play around. Be serious. Makan itu serious.


p.s - I will keep on loving you regardless of your size and your waistline. But if health is on the line, I'll be strict if that's what it takes. Jadi, jgn telan byk2 air nescafe susu mcm tadi lagik tau bila saya kata rasa skit aje, kan da kene suruh spit balik dlm cawan. haaa.

fancy some baba nyonya's ?

I've been to Jonker Walk for several times, to enjoy the environment and also the food. It is famous for its varieties of kuih tat and also baba nyonya's delicacies. I have this one particular kedai makan that I really adore. Their food are tasty and the best part is, they are inexpensive :) The tables are limited though so you might have to wait for a couple of minutes before you can have one. But I really do think it's worth the wait.

The name of this shop is 88 living museum. It is along the walk so if you keep your eyes wide open, you'll spot it right on. There's a bullock cart bank in front of the shop.

My recent visit was on 18th September for break fasting with my boyfriend. He's going to Muar while I'm going to JB on the next day for Hari Raya celebration so we decided to spend that Friday together.

We went there early in order to get a place. It was pretty challenging to see other people enjoying their food while you have to wait and just stare at your food until the azan ;p


We had mee rendang nyonya and nasi lemak baba nyonya (for two). The orange coloured gravy in the bowl is to be eaten with the nasi lemak. They are of coconut milk and they tasted really gooood. We also ordered the famous durian cendol. What I like most about this kedai is that they are not stingy when it comes to the quality of the food. The serving of gula melaka is very generous and so does the coconut milk and the durian paste. This kedai makes one of the wicked cendol in the world, I must say. I had an orange + apple + lemon juice for me, to help me fight the guilt for eating way too much fat ;p


And all of this food cost us almost RM20. Almost. I forgot the exact total amount because you have to pay them as soon as you take the food from the people who prepared it right before the entrance of this shop and my bf paid them so I just did a quick mental calculation based on the price on the menu.

I'll be going there again that's for sure :)

the craving

I'm fasting and I have this killer craving. I actually have been having this craving since last week (I don't know for what reason but the desire just popped out of nowhere). I have an uber ultimate craving for milkshakes! mmmm nyums~ I went to the States a year ago and had this chance to indulge in this glass of milkshake that was out of this world. It was that tasty! I had it at Steak n Shake restaurant at Illinois. I was there with this bunch of M'sian students for a game that is held annually for M'sian students studying in the States. I was not one of them but I joined in the bandwagon anyway :P The main thing that I could remember from this trip was,.... obviously, the milkshake! I wish I have pictures of those tasty milkshakes. There were like, 5 of different flavours on our table and we didn't mind sharing and sipping each milkshakes although we barely knew each other at that time. Guess the milkshakes bring all of us closer! :D

Because of the lacking of the pictures, I had tough time remembering the name of this restaurant. I was so into this craving that I actually wikipedia-ed milkshake and the determination definitely paid off and as soon as I saw the name "Steak N Shake", I knew I hit the jackpot. The memory came rushing in :)


I wish the outlet would open soon in Malaysia. There's Wendy's and Carl's Jr. but it would be great to have Steak N Shake too so that I could have a bite at their famous steak hamburgers *did not get the chance to eat any at that time due to my belief :)*. However, I doubt it would be here soon, so probably, just maybe, I would settle for the next milkshake that I could find. Carl's Jr, anyone?
