This is what I don’t understand.
It’s OK to have a (supposedly) international level award ceremony here. To have people ‘drown’ in the entertainment that are being served and it’s totally OK to have fame-hunger people to jump up and down in the local night club so as to be part of the audience of the awaited BIG event.
It’s OK to have night clubs that sometimes serve as strip clubs, with liquor being served to people off all ages and religions in this so called Muslim country.
It’s even OK to have the 51st independence celebration in all sorts of places, involving every type of activities unimaginable although the Ramadhan is fast approaching.
It’s OK too to have orgy parties in public beaches (yes, it HAD been organized several times here in this, surprise surprise, MUSLIM country).
But it’s NOT ok to have a concert here in KL, performed by Avril Lavigne because she is a bad role model to the kids? And because the date is too near to the 51st independence day? And because it’s approaching Ramadhan?
I won’t babble much if this is a country that consistently forbids entertainment that is deemed unsuitable. But it is FAR from consistent. It’s OK for one event and NOT for another. I must say, all these contributes nothing but adds to confusion amongst our so-called future leaders. Because to them, so what if the concert got canceled, they still have other ‘hidden’ events they can go to. And this cancellation actually affects those who go for the ‘mild’ type of entertainment. They are not the ones who you could find caught red handed in acts that are not suitable to the eyes of the society. Those people don’t go to Avril Lavigne’s concert, mind you.
Punishing one who is not guilty is just as bad as committing the crime. But I suppose it is OK for them, at least it looks like something has been done. Although we KNOW how shaky the ground they are standing on right now.
