Sunday Morning :-)

American Idol is back on and although I've missed quite a couple of the audition episodes, I've managed to catch the Final 24 show.

I have a few of my favourites but Andrew Garcia is the one whom I really enjoyed listening to. He did an impressive version of "Straight Up" by Paula Abdul during the Hollywood week. Last night, he didn't quite receive the approval from the judges (they seemed to be expecting more of him than the other guys) but I still think that he rocks. Hopefully he'll be doing lots of cool cover for popular songs that are totally unexpected and those songs would surely be downloaded like crazy, just like his "Straight Up" cover. Good luck, Andrew Garcia!

Listen to that croon. Tell me it isn't one of the loveliest sound ;-)

We belong to the music

Okay I'm not ashamed to admit that I kinda like Miley Cyrus. I don't get all the hype about Hannah Montana but she got that star quality that is rare and that explains how she gets where she is today. And who could resist that party in the USA song. That song always makes my head nods to the beat and sometimes you could even find me lip-synch to it shamelessly.

What about Timbaland? This dude makes wicked records and you've got to give your hats off to this guy. Although quoting my brother "Eleh Timbaland nih sore bukan sedap pun. Kalo nyanyi banyak sore orang lain je" (- he was referring to the song Apologize. Mane ade mamat nih nyanyi dlm lagu tuh kan, ade suare die ckp eh eh that's all), he is still, a genius when it comes to making hit songs.

Now what do you get when you put this two together? You'll get "We Belong To The Music". A real fun song that would definitely appeal to the youngsters and the young-at-hearts too ;-)

Not bad, really. A perfect song for driving, doing your chores at home, bathing, doing your homework, the list is endless when it comes to feel good songs. So click play and be relished! :-)

I hope it will be as good as the book.

I got hold of Diary Of A Wimpy Kid during a rendezvous with my college mates a few months back. We exchanged gifts with one another and I got the book. I haven't heard of the book before (yeah I'm kinda slow these days when it comes to what's hit and what's not) but as a book worm that I sometimes am (heh heh) I read it as soon as I hit home and I was hooked!

I couldn't put the book down and I thought that the book is really original. Fresh. Exciting to the max. Love it to bits.

The book is about a kid who was forced to write a journal (he refused to call is as diary - it's uncool) by his mom. There's cartoon images along with words describing his days. It's like reading a diary written by a kid who thinks that he's cool but the world is yet to renounce him as one. It tickled my bones.

I bought the second series yesterday at Borders and that chap at the information counter who was being a real efficient worker told me all about the movie that's coming out soon and asked me to check the trailer out.

It's awesome.

I hope the movie will be as good as the book. I laughed out loud and snorted a couple of times while reading the book. I didn't even have a single hard time trying to comprehend the book thus I must say, this book would be loved by all book worms and non book worms too (and even for someone in the middle like me ;-p). It's a real joy to read.

The original release date was April 2nd, 2010, but the release has recently been moved up to March 19th, 2010. I am not sure though if it will hit the Malaysian cinemas at the same time it does in the States.

I can't wait for the movie to come out. If you ever, ever get the chance to read this book (go to the bookstore to have a taste of what it's like) please do. Chances are, you'll be hooked too! :-)

Lagu baru karaoke

I love singing pop rock songs but I don't do that often, especially if I'm around strangers. But when I do, that means I'm comfortable around you or probably something just pisses me off so much I need to channel my wrath hence the pop rock songs selection. HEH HEH.

I used to love Avril's Losing Grip during my karaoke session. I love Linkin Park's too. Don't be surprised at how excited I can get when I'm singing to the tune of New Divide :-p

Now I'm hoping that soon enough there will be this song on the list too because I have been secretly practicing and I think I could pull this one off. Perasan-ly.

The lyrics are there just in case you want to give it a shot too! ;-)

BTW, you're awesomeeeeee Adam Lambert!!!! (- this is the inner fan girl in me talking)

He is proud of his mom.

There's about 35 students in each class and each one has his/her own story. We sometimes get too caught up in our world, we tend to forget that the world does not revolve solely around us.

I'm going to let you take a peek in one of my student's life. Some information has been changed in order to ensure privacy but the rest is all original. Grammar and all.

The person I admire most is my mother. My mother name is Salmah Bt Abu. My mother every day go to work as a security guard school. My mother work at SK Batu Pahat. My mother work place is near my house.

My mother is a good looking woman. She is a smart woman. She has a fair skin and a long hair. She is a not really short woman. Un happy thing, my mother not healthy because she is old.

She is a hardworking woman. She do her work everyday. She never tired to do her work. Beside, she is friendly. She has many friends at place she work.

I admire my mother because she born me. She take care me from I small. Everyday, she cook for me and my sister. She loves me more than her life. I proud to my mother because she is a kind person.

I wish I could show this piece of work to his mom. It is far from perfect, the sentence construction is rather basic for a 14-year-old but bear in mind though that I'm teaching in a suburban area where English is not widely spoken. What I want to show his mom is not how he has done his work, but rather on how proud he is of her and that my friend, is rare for teenagers these days (and sadly, even for adults too. gasp). This is the kind of students that I really wish I could help with all my might to ensure that he succeed in his life. For his kind heart, hard work and good manners, I wish for his happiness and for God to shower his blessings on this kid's life.

Kids like this give me the drive to keep on going and as exhausted as I am each time I'm out of the class after a double period, it pays upon knowing that at least some of them could produce a piece of decent work on their own.

There's gonna be a very special nasik goreng ayam this coming CNY break

Mandi tak basah, makan tak kenyang, tidor tak lena :- simptom org tgh bercinta yang rindu rinduan. Aku mandi masih basah dan perlukan towel, makan banyak banyak masih mampu rasa kenyang (kalo makan laju lambat skit rasa kenyang, makan perlahan cepatla rasa kenyang tuh. Aku suka makan laju. Which explains kenapa aku tak kurusss. oops) dan tidor masih mampu lena dan boleh snooze alarm henpon bila berbunyik pukul 6.05 a.m (kenapa bukan pukul 6? Sebab pukul 6 tuh terlalu awal. huh)

Tetapi ;
Saya sedang rindu.

Hati rasa berat bila fikir lamanya tidak jumpa.
5 hari lagik to go before I can see his face and tease him.
120 hours to sail through before I can go and sulk to my heart's content when I feel like it (;-p)
One long week before I can force him to drive and let myself enjoy the view from the car.

We'll finally have our nasik goreng ayam that we had been craving for this past few weeks (ok, it was mainly me but I just had to type 'we' - kene kaver). There'll be a session of sticker-picture taking (it's a tradition ^^) don't worry babe, I'll teach you how to pose and my cuteness will definitely makes up for the both of us. Oops :-P. I hope we'll be able to catch valentine's (the movie) too but even if we don't it's OK because it's your face I'd want to see and not Taylor Lautner's (he 's in this movie. I don't think he'll be shirtless like he did in New Moon though).

You'll aways beat Jacob's rear end dear.

I'm just, basically, missing you. Heaps.
And I can't wait to see you this Friday.
There'll be some serious rear end's squeezing. HEH HEH HEH.

My guinea pigs

I'm going to show you some of my students' work. There are 37 of them and I managed to mark all of their writing books in a day. If you find it's boring to read a novel, try marking 37 essays that are akin to one another with linguistic blunders every now and then.

The guinea pigs are :-

Students of 1 Melati (the B class).
13 years old.
Most of them got a C for English in UPSR.
Probably half of them haven't come of age. Just yet.
The title of the essay is Safety At Home.
I've taught them several vocabularies that they can use in writing this essay.

Enjoy.

"Next, we can not put the toys or another things at anywhere especially stairs because when we walk, we don't realize have a toys or things at stairs we can fall"

"Old man told prevention is better than cure"

"We do not careless and very dangerous for me do not play the electric starter"

"Home is place where humans protect their body"

"Home is the place for human to stay alive"

"We must take care the safety and protect the safe from danger"

"We also can get died because touch the plug with dried hands"

"At home many dangerous so we can safety"

"We can tidy the paper and put the paper at the almary"

"We can put the toys at the place of toys"

"We can not to play the knife. The knife can bring fatal. Because the knife very very dangerous. We can put the knife at the spoon place"

"Home is my life, home must be safe. My home like paradise. My home very important for me".

"Don't playing WWE Smakdown because our bone can be broken"

"Prevention is better than cure. I hope we must cannot has characteristic like careless"

"Finally, don't play play and don't careless because it can be an accident"

"Do not puts the candle near lots of paper, we can easy to burn"

At times, you are bound to read some work that can put a smile on your face and make you burst with pride.

"Besides, we also can't put a lighted candle near lots of paper because when it burn the paper, the paper will make a big fire"

"Toys sometime can bring danger to our safety. We should not mess the room by putting toys on the stairs. We may trip and fall".

My best wishes go to all you kids. I get paid to teach you. I hope you'll get paid well with what I've taught you.
