What To Give, ah?

I have two major weddings to attend next month. It's the school holidays so it's just natural that people want to get married during this season. Gosh, those wedding planners must be making real big bucks this time of the year. I heard even the price of eggs shoot up now (because Malays usually gives out boiled eggs to their guests as a sign of thank you. Do you have any idea what does the eggs symbolize? I have an idea but I dunno if it's the real truth behind this tradition).

These two major weddings are the weddings of important people in my life. One is a close friend who was once my roomie while the other is a cousin who grew up together with me, so close, that we have people around us calling us twins! Heck, we even almost have the same car's registration number! (His is 2717 while mine is 2718).

So I'm scratching my head every now and then (especially when I invigilate for SPM, the students are busy tackling the questions while I, busy thinking about stuff like this) thinking about what to give them. And that pressie must not be burning my wallet also. I'm not being a tangkai jering here but bear in mind I have to give two pressies, need to save up some dough for something special that I'm gonna buy this end of year while spending my moolah on things that bring me pleasure too (-i.e : shopping *hee hee*, karaoke-ing *it's been a looooong time* and also beautifying me ;D).

Any logical, practical ideas?

Anways, in giving wedding pressies, should we give something that can be used by both parties (husband + wife)?. I don't want to give a set of cutlery. I think that's so lame! They are just married for heaven's sake, they won't be needing lots of tea sets.

Should I give comfy, nice and soft-y bed linen? But what if they have Queen size bed and I give them King's? That would be a waste.

I wish I have lots of moolah so that I could give my gal pal a nice IKEA furniture for her future house and a nice getaway to Bali for my cousin and his wife. Now, if only I am a Hollywood celebrity (!).

P/S - I already have a side-pressie planned for my cousin. He said he wanna give me a penggaru belakang @ back scratch-er if I get married so, I'm gonna give you that, man! Mwahahahaha. (U dunno what is penggaru belakang? Go and ask your grandparents. The elderly looooove to use it).

GG

Guess what GG is.

Guess.

Keep guessing.

Come on.

You can do better.

I SAID take a guess. Come on, be a sport.

OK, I heard you. You want a clue.

It's a TV show.

Is the lightbulb on now?

If your guess is Gossip Girl, nope, that's not it.

It's a tv show that made its debut well before Gossip Girl. And I had a major crush on one of its actor. Still have a crush on him tho :))

It's GILMORE GIRLS. I'm assuming you've watched it before or at least have heard about it.

I really loved this tv show. I loved it as much as I loved Smallville, if not more. Probably the main reason for the liking is because of the main focus of the show. Mother-daughter relationship that is more often than not, complicated (but fun nevertheless).

Just to brush off some dust that might have been collecting in the brain department about this show, the main characters of this show are Lorelai and Rory. The former is the mother while the latter is the daughter. The mother gave birth at a very young age (16 yrs old) after an incident (you know lah what incident I'm talking about, rite). The mother comes from this affluent family and she is the only child so the parents' hope on her was high. After she got impregnated, conflicts arose between her and her parents and she wanted to break free.

Few years down the road, her daughter (Rory) grew up to be this beautiful and intelligent young girl (played by Alexis Bledel). The mother does not want her to make mistakes in her life that she did when she was younger so the story pretty much went from there onwards.

This show made me goes down the memory lane because I used to watch it back when I was in secondary school up until my early uni years. Besides being a great show with the actors talking reaaaally fast, perhaps it was my favourite too because I associate it with my younger years (damn I sound like an old maid here) when things were a little different.

Anyhoos,
It has been a while since I last watched this show so tonight was kinda special because I got to watch it by chance on tv. I did not know that 8TV is running this show on every Tuesday nite. I think they are running the 6th season but don't take my word for it, I was too busy drooling over Luke *heh heh heh*

Oh yes,
About Luke. He is NOT the crush that I mentioned earlier. It is MILO VENTIMIGLIA (yes, that dude from heroes) who played Jess (Rory's 2nd lover and he is a bad boy, who loves to read ohhhh~). I didn't remember ever having a crush on Luke or drooling over him but I did earlier tonight.

Does this mean that...
Could I be...
getting mature..? (for having a crush on mature guys haha).

Interesting how few years could change your preferences. Come to think about it, yeah, it is fascinating to think about how I used to love to wear jerseys (football jerseys) and not caring about my looks, just to name a few. I can only imagine how I'm gonna be like 5 more years down the road. Preferences might or might not change but one thing for sure, I'm gonna look (a little bit) different. I'm nervous just thinking about the future.

Anyways, back to GG, I adore their theme song "Where You Lead". It is sung by a mother/daughter pair and it is a really sweet song. It has that feel good feeling to it :)

I'm sad that the show has ended. Just what is gonna happen to Rory and Lorelai, next? Haven't had the chance to watch the final episode though, but I have read its synopsis and I think it is a nice ending to this show which has 7 successful seasons under its hat.

Transformation

I love the blockbuster movie Transformer. There's a lot of cool scenes that rocked my socks off, Megan Fox is ultimately hot and Bumble Bee is just super cute. Perhaps what I loved most about it was the transformation ('duh) of the robots. They are in a league of their own.

Transformation certainly made the cars better didn't it?

So, is transformation a good thing?

When someone you thought you knew changes (might be for better or worse), will you be skeptical about it? Or will you just adapt to the new transformation? Or maybe, that transformation inspires you to change too?

People change every now and then. You can control a machine but it is impossible to control a human being. We have a mind of our own and our hearts keep playing a prominent role in making decisions.

But of course, a drastic change could lead to a traumatic effect. So, it's just as fair when the people around you change dramatically too, because you have set a perfect example. Perhaps, it is what people called as the chain reaction.

Things change, as well as people. So maybe it's time for a transformation.

Because I Deserve It!

Sometimes we are so caught up in pleasing others, we forgot to please ourselves. And that is a shame.

My teacher once asked everyone in my class to name 3 persons that we love most. Almost everybody named their parents as the one they love most. I, on the other hand, named myself as the person that I love most. In the end we came to a conclusion that we need to love ourselves above others, because if you don't, no one else would. And when you love yourself, you would take really good care of yourself.

After consecutive weeks of torture and damnation, I felt that I just need to give myself something, for making it through all the shit.

And so I pampered me :)

I focused on one part of me that needs the most attention (as for now) and that is my hair. They need a bit more care and affection. My hair and I always have this love-hate relationship.

So, on last weekend, I got a new haircut at this salon that I have always had my eyes on when I go shopping. Nothing grand about it but it's convenient. I gave myself a good nearly 2 hours of pampering. Complete with hair treatment session and all. Almost go through with the rebonding idea but that has to wait if I don't want to go broke :P

Walking out of the salon, I felt like a superstar. That feeling made me glowwww for the whole day and that's it, I shall care more about myself! It's about time anyway ;)

P/S - So the whole point of this filler blog post is that...... when things aren't going to the direction that we want to, stop for a while, take a break and do things that would make you feel better. You deserve it above all!

Damn That Made My Day :P

You ever experienced the feeling of getting an honest compliment after a shi*ty day?

It feels reallllly good and could magically make your stress goes kapoof (that's the sound of something that is magically vanished, you human beings have little imagination don't you :P)

So I was marking my students' final exam papers (had to finish it within today because I'll be away on another *insert any curse word you'd like here* 3 days mission far far *well not so far actually* away from school). The students were finally done with the final exam and so they were happily chatting away with one another and some gathered around me, gossiping away. The thing that I love most about teaching is when I get to interact with these kids (not during lessons) because they never fail to amuse me.

And I love it especially when I say stuff that got them stunned (some funny stuff tho, nothing insulting) and made them laugh their arses off.

I love it even more when they compliment me and they did not even realise it!

What were their compliments? Hee hee hee. That is for me to know and for you to find out :D Just want to spread the word here that giving a compliment could really make someone's day. So if something good crosses your mind when you see someone, let it out and make sure that person knows it. Don't hold back because we don't really lose anything by saying something good about someone. What goes around comes around, hopefully that feel-good-feeling bug will bite you and makes your day better too!

Hot And Cold

This single by (sexy songstress) Katy Perry had been released for quite some time but I only remembered to put up a post about it now. The moment is kinda perfect anyways because I am currently swamped with work that I need something to take my mind off the stress!

Anyhoos,
This song is as catchy as I Kissed A Girl but the lyric is less controversial. I love the lyric because it described how guys can change in a blink of an eye (and yet they say that girls are mysterious, huh?) Simple yet it hits the mark perfectly.

You gotta watch the video clip. It's fun and it portrays Katy's fun persona really well. One of the reasons I love Katy is because of her fine, fun choice of attire. Not to be forgotten is her sexy red lippies, now, not everyone could pull off red lipstick well!

So, if you're in the midst of doing something that you are getting tired of, take a 5 mins break (it could be longer if your internet connection is slow tho), watch this vid and have fun!

*mwah!*
